What would make your Valentines?

What would make your Valentines?

Valentines Day is approaching fast, the 2nd biggest card buying event after Christmas.

We’re never been big on Valentines in our household. We exchange cards, have a nice meal at home and that’s about it.

As a teenager I loved it, what better way to tell the gorge guy I’d been admiring from a far that I fancied him, albeit anonymously.

This got me thinking about what Valentines means to me today, as a mother of 2 girls and wife to one who is in love with another (you can read about that here).

I’m not a Valentine hater, the sentiment of celebrating love appeals to me. It doesn’t have to be an occasion to spend loads of money but a reminder to appreciate the people we care about. Life is so busy rocketing past us sometimes it’s good to stop reflect and show a little love.

Being lavished with gifts isn’t necessary, (don’t get me wrong I’m definitely partial to a new bag or pair of shoes) but a cake baked by my special 3, a home made card or a playlist of my favourite tunes speak volumes to me.  Knowing someone has thought, then taken the time and made the effort to create something for me, touches me so much, it can move me to tears.

Sleep has become like the holy grail in this house (once again) and right now a whole night’s uninterrupted sleep (in the spare room with ear plugs) would be the greatest gift ever.

What could your loved ones do to make your Valentines this year? Tell us we want to hear.
