Celebrate Will and Kate’s wedding and help Save the Children

Thinking of holding a street party for Will and Kate’s wedding but dont know where to start?

Right now there are huge amounts of info out there on how to get going, but one idea that has caught our attention is to do it in aid of a new campaign from Save the Children - No Child Born To Die.  As part of their massive campaign they have made available a huge amount of resources to get you going including ideas, posters, decorations and games, including our favourite – pin the tail on the corgi.  You can send off for a pack or download the pack online.

Why Save the Children – No Child Born to Die? Over a million stillborn babies’ lives could be saved each year with improved medical care for mums, according to new Save the Children research published today in The Lancet medical journal.

Basic improvements in emergency obstetric care and medical treatment for mothers could save over a million stillborn babies’ lives each year, according to new research on stillbirths.  Save the Children led the new estimates for the special series inThe Lancet medical journal, which reveals that 2.6 million women suffer stillbirths every year, with 98% of cases occurring in developing countries.

Just want to make some bunting?

Check out this easy guide from House to Home:

1) Draw a triangle on some cardboard and cut it out to use as a template; or print and cut out our downloadable bunting template.

2) Pin the template to your fabric and cut around it using pinking shears to avoid fraying. Repeat until you have enough flags.

3) Evenly space the flags along the bias binding tape, folding the shortest edge over, and pin in place.

4) Sew on the flags with a straight stitch, leaving at least 40cm of tape free from flags at each end for hanging.
