It was B’s 5th birthday party at the weekend. Fab weather and entertainer made for a great afternoon.
This year I decided not to do party bags and did a lucky dip as the kids left instead. So fed up with all the plastic tat of party bags. I also made some felt egg pouches as her birthday was so close to Easter this year. The idea was the kids would do a mini egg hunt at the beginning of the party and they could use the egg pouches to collect their eggs in. It went down really well, each egg was personalised with their name on so they could keep them to take home.
They were so easy to make, even for a complete novice like me.
So if you fancy doing an Easter craft with/for your child give them a whirl.
Here’s my step by step guide to making them
1. Create an egg shaped template out of card. I used an old cereal box to make mine
2. Draw around the template on a piece of felt and cut out your shapes.
3. Cut a small hole in the back of one.
4. Then take 2 egg shapes (one with a hole and one without) and blanket stitch them together using some embroidery thread. I learnt this over at the fabulous Cherry Menlove’s site, thank you Cherry.
That’s it.
Your eggs are now ready to decorate. I would have loved to embroider names on them all but time and rusty sewing skills didn’t allow. Still cute I think.
