1. Propolis is a resinous substance bees collect from trees. It contains antioxidants called flavonoids, thought to be the active ingredients. Studies suggest it may be active against bacteria and viruses. I have found it very effective used as a gargle for sore throats and taken as a tincture for coughs. Avoid if you are allergic to bee stings.
2. Echinacea is a wild flower native to North America. It is effective against both bacterial and viral attacks. It is useful in the treatment of colds, flu, urinary tract infections, skin infections such as acne and boils, sinusitis and ear infections. Take as tea or tincture for best results. Not recommended if you're pregnant or lactating.
