The advent of MRSA and swine flue seem to have created a huge market for anti bacterial products. The vast majority of high street anti bacterial products contain chemical triclosan. Now the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is reviewing the safety of triclosan, a not only widely used antibacterial agent found in soap, but also toothpaste and a range of other consumer products. Triclosan is an ingredient in a growing list of products, including toys, latex paint, clothing, soaps, and cosmetics, to inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi and mildew.
